Scaling Proven Strategies
In search of support transforming their decentralized Montessori micro-schools into a scalable network of public charter programs, Wildflower Schools sought support from Bloomwise’s founder, Katie Piehl, in navigating regulations while staying true to their mission. Piehl conducted a landscape analysis and growth model to assess environmental readiness to grow a public school network and led strategic visioning for organizational growth and expansion to prepare and apply for federal funding. Piehl successfully secured a $12 million federal grant to support the cultivation and growth of the public micro-school model from 6 schools to more than 45 in five years.
Navigating Regulatory Complexities
Bloomwise supported a national facilities organization to access federal, state, and local funds for facility retrofits of 10+ school facilities in its portfolio that are located in Disadvantaged Communities (as defined by the Dept of Energy) or serve a significant economically disadvantaged community. Bloomwise developed a comprehensive funding strategy to upgrade old, failing school infrastructure and gain significant energy efficiencies that redistributed public funds to the classroom for hundreds of students.

Clarifying Strategy to Compete for Funding
RiseUp provides school-based accessible, affordable health care to children of all ages with a focus on the under- and uninsured, to improve health and educational outcomes. Bloomwise used storytelling, values exercises, and other strategic planning strategies to build a strategic framework that informed the organization's next phase of growth and gave it the tools and vision to apply for public and private funds to grow and broaden its impact. As a result of this engagement, RiseUp had the tools and strategies to successfully apply for public funds that allows for sustainable operations and growth for at least the next five year.
Organizational Change and Community Culture Assessment
Bloomwise partnered with an organization to analyze their culture and climate and facilitated board development, focusing on board roles and responsibilities. We engaged by building trust within the community, listening to experiences that wove a story of the organizational climate. We assessed the culture and climate against indicators of effective organizational change management and developed recommendations to move the organization through a growth chasm to support a healthy and thriving organizational culture.

We embody the spirit of transformation, as architects of change who bridge aspirations with reality and guide organizations and communities forward to bloom wiser and build a brighter tomorrow.

Our comprehensive approach involves: evaluation, planning, and action. We meticulously assess the environmental impact of operations, identifying areas where improvements can be made. We supply actionable steps to minimize negative effects on the planet. And implementation is key. We guide clients through practical measurable actions, such as adopting eco-friendly practices, optimizing energy usage, and retrofitting energy efficient facilities.
Grounded in philosophies of equity and accountability in the education sector, founder Katie Piehl brings experience as an innovative school and network founder, large scale public program evaluator, and national sector transformation catalyst. She is skilled in navigating complexities of a highly regulated environment and activating superpowers in others, all with an unwavering commitment to purpose-driven work. Katie is an activator, strategist, and mom and holds a Masters in Public Policy from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. In her personal time, Katie enjoys experiencing every season, including hockey season, living in Minnesota with her husband and four children.
